Why combine Gmail and Thunderbird?

A. It’s a maximum productivity email solution!
The Gmail Thunderbird partnership provides the best of both worlds: the best of webmail and the best of an email client. See the video on Thunderbird Sync
If you use webmail such as Yahoo or Gmail, you will know the difficulties: uploading photos is slow, logging in and out of various accounts is a pain and you can’t even read your old emails unless you have an internet connection. This can leave you stranded without important information.
We all know webmail is fantastic as you can check it from any computer. There is no need to drag a netbook everywhere, all your email is available no matter which computer you use.
And using an email client such as Outlook gives you a different set of advantages and disadvantages. As with any email client, it’s tricky to work on anything other than one main computer because all your email is downloaded and stored on that computer.
The version of webmail access that people currently use is another time waster because you only get your new emails and when you’re back at your main computer you have to re-read and re-sort your emails. The benefits are that using attachments is extremely quick and simple, you don’t have to keep logging in and out and of course you can work on your email offline.
There are so many articles and videos about switching from Gmail to Thunderbird or (migrating|changing|switching|moving|swapping} from Thunderbird to Gmail but we’ve found the key to using both so you get all the benefits of webmail and all the benefits of an email client.
By sync’ing Gmail and Thunderbird your email life will be really easy:
If you have multiple computers, all your email is automatically synchronized across them all
You still manage your email via Thunderbird on your own computers giving you access without logging in, speedy attachment handling and the ability to access your email offline
On another computer you can access your email using Gmail.
Why Gmail and Thunderbird?
I recommend this pair because it’s the easiest to set up and as a bonus you get automatic address book synchronization as well. For more detail on setting this up see Thunderbird Sync
